John Hemlepp - WYSA Scholarship John Hemlepp of Hemlepp Photography is pleased to announce that he has partnered with the Woodford Youth Soccer Association again this year to sponsor the Hemlepp Photography / WYSA Scholarship. high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican Party.

Larry G. Blackford Jr Memorial Scholarship

Sponsored by Friends of “little LARRY”

Any Woodford County or Fayette County resident who is a high school senior and planning on continuing his or her education in Media or Music may apply for this scholarship.  The applications are located in the Guidance Office at Woodford County High School or any Fayette County High School.  The Larry G. Blackford Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two recipients for the amount of $1000.00 each.  The check will be payable to the educational institution of the recipient’s choice.  This scholarship is non-renewable.  Friends of “Little Larry” Board of Advisers is made up of twelve members.  All applications will be reviewed and approved by the Board.  The recipient will be notified the week of May 1st each year.

KMHI Scholarship

The Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute proud to announce its KMHI Scholarship Awards. Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals (graduating seniors and older) who are currently attending or will be attending a technical center, trade school, or enrolling in an apprenticeship program, each of which should be centered around the construction industry and should not be free programs. In addition to the five trade scholarships, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2020 to graduating high school seniors, GED recipients, or students who are currently enrolled in college or tech schools that live in modular, manufactured, or mobile homes. These awards are available for university, college, technical, or vocational programs.

Kentucky American Water's Ripple Effect Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding high school seniors* who demonstrate leadership in academics and a commitment to environmental leadership. Applicants must live in Kentucky American Water's service area (Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jessamine, Nicholas, Owen, Scott, and Woodford counties).

The Philip and Betty Luckett
Memorial Award For
Outstanding Character

This award is given annually in honor of Philip and Betty Luckett.

Mrs. Luckett was a former Assistant Superintendent of Woodford County Schools and spent her career educating the students of Woodford County. She believed in the power of education to change lives and in the power of people to rise above the challenges that life holds. Her husband shared in this belief and supported Mrs. Luckett in her quest to educate the youth of Woodford County.

This award is presented to a WCHS Senior who has demonstrated outstanding character in all aspects of his/her life. While academic performance is taken into consideration, the award is also based upon extracurricular activities and additional supporting information.

Students may nominate themselves or be nominated for the award. Only applications containing the following documents will be considered:

3. Student must complete application form and return to the Woodford County Extension Service, 184 Beasley Road, Versailles, KY 40383 by April 15. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.  
 
4. Applicants must plan to major in family and consumer sciences or related field.  Those considered include: Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Elementary Education, Infant/Early Childhood, Health Related Field, Nutrition and/or Dietetics, Family Studies, Consumer Education, Interior Design, Clothing and Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality Management. 
 
5. Consideration will be given to academic standing - minimum 3.0 GPA, ACT/SAT scores, financial need, leadership and extra-curricular/civic/church activities. A transcript or equivalent is required. 
 
6. All recipients will be invited and strongly encouraged to attend the Woodford County Extension Homemakers’ annual meeting (usually held in May.) 
 
7. Scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the fall semester.  Proof of college registration must be shown.  Scholarship money will be sent directly to the college or university in the name of the recipient. 
 
8. Student must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours of credit per semester at an accredited college or university. Priority will be given to a Kentucky college or university but other accredited colleges and universities will be considered.

CURE Education Enrichment Fund

Scholarship opportunity for students with epilepsy, the CURE Education Enrichment Fund, made possible by the generous funding of Greenwich Biosciences. This program is a one-time scholarship (up to $5,000) for those living with epilepsy, family members & caregivers. Woodford County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

Purpose: The purpose of the WCRTA Scholarship is to recognize and assist Woodford County graduates/teachers in their post-secondary education endeavors and to encourage students/teachers to become elementary and/or secondary teachers. A one time scholarship is offered without regard to race, age, sex, disability or national origin.


Scholarship: The amount of the scholarship is $500.00,


General Guidelines:

The student applicant must be a graduate of Woodford County High School. The teacher must be currently employed by the Woodford County Board of Education.

The applicant must be planning to major in elementary or secondary education or currently employed in the field of education and have maintained a cumulative 2.5 G.P.A. in school. .

The applicant must complete and submit an application and related materials to the WCHS Counseling office by 4-17-current year. Late or incomplete application cannot be considered.

The application and all related materials must be typed or printed except signatures.

Consideration will be given to academic standing, G.P.A., ACT/SAT scores, school and community involvement, leadership and extracurricular activities.

Scholarship recipient will be announced during WCHS Senior Class Night. Scholarship money will be available for the fall semester. The scholarship money will be send directly to the college and/or university in the name of the recipient.


Any application not meeting these guidelines will not be considered. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.

2020 STOP THE BLEED® Scholarship Program

 

Are you a high school student? You can help yourself and help your school by a) making a 1 to 2 minute video or b) writing an essay from 250 to 500 words addressing one of the topic areas below.

Topic #1: Describe or show how you think Stop the Bleed helps to enhance personal and community resilience.

Topic #2: Describe or show how Stop the Bleed training can help at an accident, before emergency responders arrive.

Topic #3: Make the case: Do you think some or all students should be required to learn to Stop the Bleed?

Winning students will receive scholarship money towards post secondary education. The schools of the winning students will receive free STOP THE BLEED® Kits.

This year’s program consists of National Scholarships and State Scholarships. Every student submitting an application is eligible for the National Scholarships. Students who attend school in states with State Scholarships are automatically eligible for those scholarships, too (note: applicants are limited to one scholarship award).

Eligibility is limited to high school age students in the US and its territories.

Dr. W.C. McCauley Scholarship

History

The late Harriet McCauley established a fund as a perpetual memorial to her father, the late W.C. McCauley, M.D.  The fund was designated to provide financial assistance to deserving young men and women from Woodford County to obtain a college and/or medical education.

Purpose

To provide scholarships for graduating seniors from Woodford County High School in Versailles, KY. 

Criteria

Recipients must be a high school graduate of Woodford County High School.

Recipients must intend on pursuing postsecondary education in the medical field*

Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Recipients must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Re-applicants must have a cumulative college GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Paula Thacker Scholarship

This annual award honors the life and legacy of Mrs. Paula Thacker. Mrs. Thacker served Woodford County Schools as a math teacher at both the middle school and then at the high school. Countless lives have been touched by Mrs. Thacker's ability to reach both the hearts and minds of her students. Those students who demonstrated academic improvement and/ or overcame obstacles were very dear to Mrs. Thacker, and she made their success her life's work.
